The Collector's Guide to Praktina System
Praktina FX-A

In 1954 Kamera-Werke introduced on the market the Praktina FX with the diaphragm control for the semi-automatic lenses. It was the first SLR in the world to carry out the control of the lens diaphragm with a mechanism placed inside the camera body. In this model the diaphragm shuts automatically when the shutter release is pressed and it needs to be reloaded manually to full aperture after each exposure. The body was identical to the model FX except for the internal coupling to the diaphragm lens. The type 3, in 1955, had the addition of the synchronization for bulb "F" and various improvements were introduced with the type 5. Beginning from type 6 Kamera-Werke replaced the eye-level finder with a new type, brighter and with a different design, the same used later on Praktina IIA.
This camera takes all the accessories of the previous model plus a new Bellows Focusing Attachment suitable to fit the new semi-auto lenses.
